Tri Delta’s partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has provided fundraising support for more than 10 years, working towards Danny Thomas’ wish that “No child should die in the dawn of life”.

Members have been working together since 1999 to show their support of St. Jude by hosting chapter philanthropic events, participating in the Sincerely Yours letter writing campaign, and individual contributions.

Located in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude is the leading pediatric treatment center for children’s cancer. No child is turned away from treatment due to a family’s inability to pay.

Milestones

Only teens have permission to enter the room, allowing them get away from parents, nurses, and doctors and be with kids their own age.

Theta Nu

At Theta Nu we do everything we can to raise money for St. Jude. Every year we hold a softball tournament called Cougs at Bat. Every year tons of fraternities, sororities and residence halls from both WSU and U of I have participated and helped it become the success it is. On top of Cougs at Bat we host Tri-Hop, a pancake feed before home football games. Our chapter is also very active in Up 'Til Dawn, a letter writing campaign in which our members write to at least 50 people informing them of the work that St. Jude does.

In addition to participating in our own philanthropy we feel that interacting and working with other chapters is extremely important in our fight against cancer. During the 2007-2008 school year we paired with the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon to win Homecoming and an extra $2,200 for St. Jude. More recently, during the 2009-2010 school year we won Homecoming again, and raised even more money for St. Jude. This time we were partnered with the men of Phi Kappa Tau, Kappa Sigma and Tau Kappa Epsilon. We cannot wait to pair up with the men of Alpha Gamma Rho in 2010-2011 to potentially raise even more money for St. Jude.

Community Service

Outside of raising money for St. Jude, Tri Deltas are extremely involved in multiple aspects of campus and community life. Members are expected to go above and beyond the Panhellenic community service requirement of 8 hours by volunteering at least 12 hours per semester.

Part of being a Tri Delta is leadership. Members are encouraged to become leaders both inside and outside of the chapter. Besides positions within the chapter itself we have members who have been or currently are Rho Gammas, Panhellenic officers and members of the Greek Standards board. Beyond the greek community many of our women offer their time to community services like Women's Transit, Relay for Life, The Humane Society of the Palouse, the WSU Children's Center, ASWSU, Student Entertainment Board and so much more.
